This work is a response piece, created after a very close friend took her own life. As I navigated the grief that I felt during this time, the piece remained unfinished on my desk for many months. This work stands as a stark reminder of the emotional process grief brings. The toll it takes on our mental health as we reflect on those that have lost battles with their own. I really want my work to challenge the perception of grief, to highlight the realisation that amongst all the heavy feelings that a loss like this brings, there is release. The completed piece is symbolic of acceptance, of breaking free from the emotional trauma of the human condition. The media is a blend of modern and vintage sourced magazine images.
